This “Privacy Policy” describes the privacy practices of SATCOM INTERNATIONAL AG and our subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively, “SATCOM”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) in connection with the website www.satcom-int.com and www.loxyapp.com, desktop or mobile applications and digital platform, and any other pages that we own or control and which posts or links to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Service”), in connection with our marketing activities, and as otherwise described in this privacy policy.
In addition, this privacy policy describes your rights and choices concerning the Personal Information we collect.

SATCOM manages the SATCOM websites, LOXY apps and LOXY Platform, including all the data and materials it contains.

SATCOM reserves the right to periodically modify the terms of this Privacy Policy.

When a contract is entered into, Customer represents to SATCOM that it has obtained all necessary consents for the use of personal data relating to individuals who engage with SATCOM and its services on its behalf, including account administrators, purchasing and invoicing contacts, authorised signers,
and authorised users of each Customer’s Platform (collectively, “Users”) and that these consents also include the disclosure of personal and location data. In the same sense, you authorise and expressly permit SATCOM to provide its services using and storing the data and to transmit such data to the extent contractually specified.

What personal data does SATCOM collect from you when you visit our website, app or platform?

When enlisting on our website or services, you could be approached to type in your name, email, postage information, payment information, or different subtleties to assist you with your experience.

How long do we keep your information?

If you use this website to download a publication, register for an event, or ask for contact, your data will be kept as long as it takes to service the service. SATCOM can also decide to use some data in anonymous and aggregate form over a longer period of time to evaluate and customise their own activities, e.g., statistics on attendance at events or the number of downloads of our publications.
This does not imply the identification of individuals. We are trying to make your information accurate and up to date, and we only retain them in a reasonable and necessary time.

If you engage one of our services, SATCOM and its partner companies are entitled to store data confidently in the context of processing transactions. SATCOM will also be contractually entitled to collect, process and evaluate customer data and personal data relating to the use of the services insofar as this is necessary to enable the Customer to use SATCOM’s services or to bill for the use of SATCOM’s services. This data will be processed while our contract with you is in force and may go beyond that due to legal and/or contractual obligations.

How safe are your data?

We take appropriate security measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, use, loss, or disclosure. These systems and measures are regularly tested and updated if necessary. However, please be aware that regardless of any security measures used, we cannot guarantee the absolute protection and security of any personal data stored with us.

Do we share your personal information? 

No information will be shared with a third party or person. SATCOM believes that your data is strictly confidential, and according to our goals, we represent and defend the confidentiality of personal data. We will not share your information with third parties unless we are required to disclose information by law or in the following circumstances:

a. Revision by our partners: We keep lists of attendees at our events and meetings for audit purposes.

b. Hosting and processing: We occasionally contact an external data processor. This means, among other things, that we temporarily transfer data to third parties for specific jobs or research if we do not have the resources ourselves. If we do so, we will always ensure your information is handled confidentially and safely. We also always contract with these processors. In this way, the processor will never be allowed to use your information on his own initiative, and your data will be deleted as soon as the task is completed.

A third-party provider hosts the SATCOM website, so this third party may process any personal details that you send via the SATCOM website. We can also use other third parties to process your personal information. For example, they can process your personal information if you express an interest in joining SATCOM, process payments on our behalf, or process the process of sending emails to users who have signed up to receive a newsletter and notifications about events and publications.

All third-party service providers will only process your personal information on behalf of SATCOM and will be subject to strict confidentiality requirements.

c. Payment and fraud processing: Card details can be forwarded to banks or relevant financial institutions to organise payments where provided. Moreover, in case of suspicion of fraud, your information can be further transmitted exclusively for additional controls.

The transmission of the above information may include transmitting such information outside Switzerland or the European Union. Countries outside the European Union or Switzerland may not have laws to protect data of the same magnitude as those in the European Union and Switzerland.

d. Database management: Within SATCOM, your information is only available to authorised persons who need access to work.

e. Participant Lists: When you attend the SATCOM event, your name and organisation will appear on the participant list. This list can be distributed at the event itself to all who are present. In addition, if the event is organised jointly with partner organisations, we can share the list of event participants with them. Under no circumstances will we transfer your email address without your explicit permission.

Users’ rights

Under the terms of the applicable law, Users may at any time request access to their personal data or its portability and request its rectification, removal/deletion, restriction, or opposition to processing.

Right of Access: Users have the right to request a copy of the Personal Data held by Us as Data Controller, which We will provide to the User in electronic form.

Right of Modification: The Users have the right to ask Us to correct Our records if Users believe they contain incorrect or incomplete information about them.

Right to Withdraw Consent: If Users have given their consent to the collection, processing, and transfer of Personal Data, Users have the right to withdraw all or part of the consent. This includes cases where Users wish to cancel total or partially marketing messages. Once We receive notification that Users’ have withdrawn the consent, we will stop processing information for the purposes for which the User
gave the original consent unless there is another Legal Basis for the processing. For example, to stop receiving emails from Us, the Users can click on the “unsubscribe” link in the email received from Us or contact Us at [email protected] or through this link.

Right of Removal/Deletion: The User has the right to request the deletion of their Personal Data when it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or when it has been unlawfully processed, such as a breach of a duty of confidence or an infringement of copyright.

Right to Restriction of Processing: The Users have the right to request that We restrict Our processing of their Personal Data whenever they believe that it is inaccurate, that Our processing is unlawful, or that We no longer need to process it for its original purpose but cannot delete it due to a legal obligation or because Users’ do not want Us to delete it.

Right to Portability: The Users have the right to request that We transmit their Personal Data to another data controller or processor in a standard format such as CSV/PDF format when it concerns data that they have provided to Us and that We are processing based on consent, complying with Our contractual or legal obligations.

Right to Object to Processing: The legal basis for Our processing of Users’ personal data is Our legitimate interest. The User has the right to object to such processing on grounds relating to a particular situation. We will comply with the User request unless We have an irrefutable legitimate legal basis for the processing that overrides Users` interests or if We need to process further the Data for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims.

Right to Complain to a Supervisory Authority
Users have the right to appeal to a data protection supervisory authority if they believe that the processing of personal data violates data protection law.

In Switzerland, you can contact the FDPIC at the national level. If you are a European or European Economic Area citizen, you can always appeal to the Data Protection Authority in your country.

Storage of Personal Data

The personal data collected will be treated in strict compliance with the applicable legislation. Accordingly, all personal data will be stored following the intended purpose and for the legally prescribed time. In the absence of a specific legal requirement, personal data will only be stored for the appropriate period of time and to the extent necessary given the reasons for its collection, unless the User exercises the right to object or the right to removal/deletion, or withdraw the consent, within the legal limits set out.

Security

The Data Controller undertakes to protect users’ data against unauthorised access. To this end, the Data Controller uses systems, rules, and other security procedures to protect personal data and prevent unauthorised access and its misuse, disclosure, loss, or destruction.

However, it is the Users’ responsibility to ensure that the equipment used to access the website is adequately protected against harmful software, viruses, and worms.
